OnStar: a break through in technology and a piece of luxury. OnStar
is a system of instant help. With the press of a button, drivers or passengers
may call for emergency support, directions and information on local hotels
and restaurants. When a car is stolen, OnStar can track where the missing vehicle
is.
“All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son
except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom
the Son chooses to reveal to him. Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle
and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy
and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:27-30 (NIV)
On our roads of life, we have an OnStar like no other, with no monthly fees.
In Matthew 11:27, Jesus quotes, “All things have been committed
to me, by my Father.” Looking a few chapters back in Matthew, we see that Jesus
is powerful and mighty. Between Matthew 8 & 9, we read that Jesus performs
at least ten miracles. First he heals many who are ill (at least 6 people mentioned),
next he calms a storm, then two who are demon possessed are healed and finally
he raises a child from the dead. Jesus has power over illness. He has power
over nature, demons and death! Our life’s OnStar is like no other. Who
else is so mighty and great? Jesus is mighty, but He is also loving and caring
to us.
“Take my yoke upon you and learn
from me,” Jesus says. Taking yoke
with Christ is a way of making life easier. As Jesus is strong and mighty and
we are weak, when we share a yoke with Jesus it will be like taking on no other
yoke. We will be sharing our heavy burdens, with One who is much stronger and
prepared to handle them. Before telling us to take His yoke, Jesus tells us that
no one knows His Father like Him. In knowing Jesus, we may know God and have
a relationship with God. No other way- New Age, Wicca, Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism,
etc.,- can offer that which Jesus can.
When we plug into the powerful and caring source of Christ, we will be able
to find “rest for your souls.” In our lives we have a free, magnificent
OnStar, don’t be afraid to connect for help.
